Pink Medical NY is exclusively focused on women’s diagnostic needs, with specialized equipment and experienced providers who understand women’s health concerns. We offer advanced technology like the Koning VeraScan breast CT in a comfortable, supportive environment designed with women in mind.

Koning VeraScan Breast CT

Koning VeraScan is an innovative breast imaging technology that uses computed tomography (CT) to create detailed real 3D images of breast tissue without compression or pain. Unlike traditional mammography, VeraScan captures images with the patient lying face down with the breast suspended through an opening in the table, eliminating the discomfort and pain of compression.

Key differences include:

  • No breast compression required
  • True 3D imaging rather than 2D compression images
  • More comfortable patient experience
  • Improved visualization of breast tissue, especially in dense breasts
  • Comparable or lower radiation dose depending on the specific examination

Yes, the Koning VeraScan breast CT system has received FDA clearance as a diagnostic tool for breast imaging.

VeraScan breast CT may be particularly beneficial for:

  • Patients who experience significant discomfort during conventional mammography
  • Patients who avoid mammograms due to the discomfort or pain it causes
  • Women with dense breast tissue
  • Those with suspicious findings on mammography requiring additional imaging
  • Patients with breast implants
  • Women with a higher risk of breast cancer who need detailed imaging

During the examination, you’ll lie face down on a specially designed table with an opening that allows your breast to hang freely. The CT scanner will rotate around your breast, taking multiple images from different angles without compression. The entire scan typically takes about 10 seconds per breast, and the whole appointment usually lasts 15-30 minutes.

Genetic Testing

We offer several types of genetic testing including:

  • Hereditary cancer risk assessment (BRCA1/BRCA2 and expanded panels)
  • Carrier screening for inherited conditions
  • Pharmacogenomic testing (how your genes affect medication response)
  • Genetic testing for cardiovascular risk factors
  • Custom panels based on family history and risk factors

You might consider genetic testing if you have:

  • A personal history of cancer, especially at a young age
  • Multiple family members with the same or related types of cancer
  • Known genetic mutations in your family
  • Ancestry from certain ethnic backgrounds with higher rates of specific genetic mutations
  • Concerns about passing hereditary conditions to children
  • Questions about how your genetics might affect medication choices

After testing, our genetic counselors will:

  • Review your results with you in detail
  • Explain what the findings mean for your health
  • Develop personalized screening and prevention recommendations
  • Discuss implications for family members
  • Connect you with appropriate specialists if needed
  • Provide ongoing support and follow-up

Ultrasound Services

We offer a comprehensive range of ultrasound services including:

  • Whole breast ultrasound
  • Pelvic ultrasound (transabdominal and transvaginal)
  • Thyroid ultrasound
  • Abdominal ultrasound
  • Vascular ultrasound
  • Surveillance ultrasound

Breast ultrasound is often used as a complementary tool to mammography or breast CT because it:

  • Can distinguish between fluid-filled cysts and solid masses
  • Works well for examining dense breast tissue
  • Does not use radiation
  • Can provide detailed images of a specific area of concern
  • Allows real-time imaging during needle biopsies

Yes, ultrasound has been used safely during pregnancy for decades. It uses sound waves rather than radiation to create images and has no known harmful effects when used appropriately for medical purposes.
